Mr. Whisenand has been providing international business and legal advisory services since 1978. His approach to Client representation is non-traditional, personal, and tailored to timely achieving the needs of the Client and the Client’s objectives. In addition to participate in the strategic direction of the Firm, he devotes a substantial part of his time to a “project practice” with a results orientation. He travels extensively in Europe and Latin America each month.
His advisory practice is focused in the areas of transactions, structuring, finance, technology, investments, and finance with a focus on Clients entering and developing or exiting markets, opportunities, or problems other than their home country or market and in the United States market. He has substantial “in country” operating experience in Western Europe, Eastern/Central Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean with an emphasis on Cuba.
Jim has historically focused his activities on the “Triangular Connectivity” of business activities between the United States, Europe, and Latin America. Since commencing private practice in Miami in 1978, he has advised on: numerous acquisitions of banks by non-U.S. groups including structuring the first bank-to-bank acquisition of a Florida bank by a foreign bank, which at the time such transactions were prohibited by existing law; the entry of numerous European and Latin American banks into the United States and non-United States marketsand related bank regulatory issues; assisting Miami’s efforts to accelerate its role as an emerging capital markets/merchant bank center for Latin America; cross-border multi-jurisdictional corporate transactions up to US$1 billion; government tenders in other countries; public offerings and private placements; structuring of off-shore business transactions; off-shore trusts; establishing off-shore funds; asset protection planning; debt conversions and domestic and international corporate finance activities.
In 1975 [at the age of 27] and until 1978, he was appointed Deputy Attorney General of Florida which is the second highest legal office in Florida. In the absence of the Attorney General, he acted in the stead of the Attorney General. In that capacity at the age of 27, he directly supervised the legal work and management of a staff of approximately 100 lawyers, handled legislative and Congressional matters for the Attorney General and personally advised the Florida Governor, Cabinet and Florida Supreme Court on a day-to-day basis. He has appeared before many Florida and Federal trial and appellate courts including lead counsel in a successful multi-week impeachment trial in the Florida Senate. Jim has assisted the Florida Governor, Secretary of State, Florida Comptroller (Banking Commissioner), and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce in organizing official visits to several countries. He has traveled with various governmental officials on economic development efforts and, in specific, to attract foreign banks and foreign investors.
In 1970, he obtained a university degree in Marketing cum laude. He received his M.B.A.(Masters in Business) degree and his J.D. degree cum laude in 1973. He is a member of the Florida and District of Colombia bars. In 1972, he was one of approximately 50 law students selected to work for the summer at the Attorney General, United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
Jim resides in Miami. With stables near the International Polo Club – Palm Beach, he is an active equestrian previously in combined training events and now plays competitive professional polo.

Mr. Torrego has over fifteen-year experience in international Mergers & Acquisitions, Merchant Banking and Private Equity transactions in the US, Latin America and Europe. During this time, Luis has advised leading family businesses and large corporations on a variety of industries including food and beverage, outdoor advertising, manufacturing, mining and financial institutions among others.
Prior to joining Triangle Partners, Luis served as a Managing Director in the Latin America M&A Group of Standard Bank. As part of his duties, he originated and executed a number of M&A assignments in Central America and the Caribbean. Previously, Luis worked for Royal Bank of Canada in the Corporate Finance Americas Group where he co-leaded RBC’s investment banking group for the Bank’s high-net-worth clients in Latin-America. In addition, Luis participated in RBC’s restructuring of its private banking branch-network in Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to that, Luis worked in the Latin America M&A and Merchant Banking Group of Banc of America Securities where he was involved in numerous merchant banking investments, privatizations and M&A transactions.
Luis serves as a director of various international and domestic companies. Some of his past and present corporate involvements include: Director of Promodif, S.A. Spain;Director of Mare Brokers, Spain; Director and Member of Executive Committee of Medline, Brazil. Luis is an active member of the Central American – US Chamber of Commerce and a Director of the Miami Bond Club. Luis holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Saint Louis University. Luis is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
Mr. Turner has, over the past 35 years, business and legal services as Chief Executive Officer of two multi-billion dollar publicly traded financial Institutions, a marketing and public relations firm, and active practice of law. He has a varied background in law, finance and business.
Over the years, he has specialized in mergers and acquisitions as well as securities law and represented many Fortune 500 companies negotiating and consummating acquisition transactions on their behalf. For more than 15 years he was responsible for a multi-bank holding company’s expansion, mergers and acquisitions, and to a multi-billion dollar institution which was sold in 1985 to what is now Bank of America. Subsequently, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of a publicly traded financial institution and designed and executed its strategic course to acquire other financial institutions resulting in another multi-billion dollar publicly traded financial institution. Larry then returned to the practice of law with the Firm focusing in the financial and corporate areas with a special emphasis on development of Client programs, projects, and plans.
Larry is very active in the South Florida community and serves as a director of various companies. Some of his past and present civic involvements include:
Director and Member of the Executive Committee of The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce; Member of the Orange Bowl Committee Director and Past President of the Zoological Society of Florida; Director of Miami Heart Institute; Member of the City of Miami Budget Review Committee; Director of the Greater Miami Foreign Trade Zone, Inc.; Member of the Dade County International Trade and Exposition Authority which was responsible for the building of the Miami Arena and attracting The Miami Heat to the City of Miami.
Larry was raised in South Florida and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame (B.A. 1960) and his law degree from the University of Virginia (J.D. 1963).
Mr. Wallin has over 40 years of corporate finance and investment banking experience in the Latin American region. He has advised clients on merger and acquisition, project finance, and capital raising transactions across various industries and sectors, including Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Power, Real Estate, Consumer Financing and trade finance in senior positions with, among others, INTL FCStone, Standard Bank, Pan American Finance and Midland Bank.
Initiating his banking career in 1975 with Midland Bank PLC for 18 years in New York, Caracas and Miami. In 2006, Mr. Wallin established the INTL FCStone Capital Markets unit focusing on Latin America as a complement to the firm’s core commodity hedging services. In 1998, Mr. Wallin led Standard Bank London’s entry into Latin America, establishing offices in Miami, Sao Paulo, and Buenos Aires. Through 1993, Mr. Wallin served in various business development and relationship management positions at Midland Bank in multiple offices. From 1996 to 2006, Mr. Wallin served as a director on the board of the Florida International Bankers Association (FIBA).
Mr. Wallin was born and raised in Argentina and has spent his professional career covering the Americas. Mr. Wallin graduated from the University of the Pacific and Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management.
Mr. Fernandez has more than fifteen years of professional experience managing investments both in the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) and in North Africa. Mr. Fernandez has managed the development of free zones, industrial projects with strategic state alliances, real estate developments that exceed 10,000 homes and hotel projects with international operators.
Before joining Triangle Partners, Mr. Fernandez worked as a European FP & A at General Electric Plastics. Previously, Mr. Fernandez was Auditor of Accounts of KPMG.
Mr. Fernandez holds a degree in Accounting and Finance from Saint Louis University, Missouri. Juan Marcos is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
Mr. Olmo has more than 20 years of experience, knowledge and qualifications in the hospitality industry covers operation, acquisitions, development and asset management. Prior joining Triangle Partners in Madrid, Mr. Olmo oversaw operations and asset management for various hotel chains and owners including Sol Melia, Riu Hotels, Intercontinental among across EMEA and LATAM.
Mr. Olmo coordinates with his management team in devising and defining winning business strategies and furnishing the strategic vision and motivation behind the Company’s success.
Mr. Olmo holds a Master’s degree “Cum Laude” in Hospitality Management from HESB-The Hague. In addition Mr. Olmo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Administration from the EOT Madrid and Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management Certificate from Cornell SHA- Cornell University. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French, German and has a working knowledge of Portuguese.
